Authorities have charged a Haverhill man with murder in the death of another Haverhill man who was shot and killed in North Andover over the weekend, according to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office.
Derick Moncion, 22, is accused of killing 21-year-old Jaeby Ortiz Ruiz on March 10, the district attorney’s office said in a press release Monday night. The fatal shooting happened in the early morning on Sunday, and police found Ruiz’s body on Riverview Street.
Authorities successfully applied for a warrant charging Moncion with Ruiz’s murder Monday afternoon, the district attorney’s office said. He was arrested that evening and is set to be arraigned Tuesday morning in Lawrence District Court.
The district attorney’s office and Haverhill, North Andover and Lawrence police are still investigating the shooting. Authorities have not specified a motive in the killing, and no further information has been released.
