Man killed in hit-and-run near Everett Encore casino

Boston police say a pedestrian was killed in the area of Alford Street and Dexter Street in Charlestown, roads close to the entrance of the Encore Boston Harbor Hotel and Casino in Everett.

Police received a report shortly after 3 a.m. on Monday that there had been a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian. When police arrived, they found the man who had been struck. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, police said.

The driver of the vehicle fled on Alford Street toward Everett before police arrived, officials said.

The Boston Police Department’s homicide unit is investigating the case. No arrest had been made and the victim was not yet identified as of Tuesday at 7 a.m., according to Boston police.
