Man faces murder charge in connection with fatal stabbing of 78-year-old in Boston

A 29-year-old man is facing a murder charge in connection with the fatal stabbing of 78-year-old man in Boston earlier this month, according to the Boston Police Department.

Police arrested Marc Scutt near 131 Tremont St. around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 29, police said. At the time of his arrest, Scutt was wanted on a warrant for murder for the death of Jean Casseus.

Scutt is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester Court Monday, police said.

On Thursday, Oct. 19, officers heard a radio call at around 11 a.m. about a man with life-threatening injuries at 18 Rugby Road, Boston police said in a statement.

The man, later identified as Casseus, was brought to the hospital where he died. Boston police said that they believe Casseus and Scutt may have known each other.

Police urged that if anyone knows anything about the incident, they should call the Boston Police Homicide Unit at 617-343-4470.

Anyone who wants to help with the investigation anonymously was asked by police to call the CrimeStoppers Tip Line at 1-800-494-TIPS or by texting the word “TIP” to CRIME.
