For the second year in a row, New England Revolution fans will get a chance to see Lionel Messi play at Gillette Stadium.
An hour ahead of Wednesday night’s match, Inter Miami CF announced that the Argentinian star will start against the Revs.
Last season, Messi and Miami came to Gillette in late April and drew the largest home crowd in New England history, with 65,612 fans in attendance.
Starting last year against the Revs, Messi delivered for the Herons, scoring twice and adding an assist in a 4-1 win for Miami.
Last time out, Messi scored twice in a win over Montreal on Saturday.
Making up the rest of the starting lineup for the Herons is Oscar Ustari in goal, Jordia Alba, Tomas Avilés, Maximiliano Falcón, and Marcelo Weigandt in the defense, Tadeo Allende, Sergio Buesquets, Federico Redondo, and Rodríguez in the midfield, and Luis Suárez up top.
Miami beat New England twice last year by a total of seven goals. The Herons sit in sixth place in the Eastern Conference but have played the fewest games in the league.
The Revs sit eight points behind them, in 11th place in the conference, and are on a four game winless streak.
