It didn’t take long for the referees to hand out a controversial call in Super Bowl LIX between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.
On fourth-and-2 on the Eagles’ 41-yard line, Jalen Hurts threw a deep pass to A.J. Brown for 32 yards.
But the fourth-down conversion was quickly wiped off the board when the referees called Brown for offensive pass interference and the Chiefs got the ball for their first possession of the game.
Tom Brady, calling the game for FOX, didn’t like the call.
“Don’t like that one bit. This is too critical of a game,” he said. “Let the players play. It should be decided on the field. Don’t like that call to start the game.”
Brady is a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders and faces restrictions as a broadcaster — including not being critical of the officials — because of that.
