LeBron James recruiting USA superteam for 2024 Olympics (report)

On the heels of a disappointing fourth-place finish in the FIBA World Cup, Team USA may have found some promising reinforcement for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

According to a report from Joe Vardon of the Athletic, LeBron James is not only ready to commit to Team USA for 2024 but he’s making it a point of bringing aboard a stacked roster.

The three-time Olympian did not play in the 2021 Olympics but is looking to close out his international career with one final run. In the process, he’s looking to bring aboard the most talented Olympic basketball squad the event has seen in decades.

James has recruited several players already including Celtics star Jayson Tatum, future Hall of Famers Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant as well as Anthony Davis and Draymond Green. A host of other likely All-Stars are also likely to commit as well including guard Devin Booker, Damian Lillard, D’Aaron Fox and Kyrie Irving.

James has not played for USA since 2012 and will be 39 years old by the Olympics next summer. The team would likely be a capper on several international careers including Durant and Curry. Curry has never played during the Olympics but won FIBA World Cups in 2010 and 2014 with the Americans.

Training camp will kick off for the 2024 Olympics next July just one month after the NBA season ends. Gregg Popovich will coach the team as they look to win their fourth straight gold medal.
