Testimony in the trial of Karen Read, a Mansfield woman charged in the death of her Boston police officer boyfriend, John O’Keefe, continues Friday at 9 a.m.

Read, 44, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of O’Keefe, who was found cold to the touch and unresponsive on Jan. 29, 2022, outside of a home in Canton.

Norfolk County prosecutors allege Read struck O’Keefe with her SUV while driving intoxicated. Read’s attorney, David Yannetti, said during the trial’s opening statements that her car never struck O’Keefe and that others are to blame for his death.

The trial is taking place in Dedham’s Norfolk County Superior Court.

Matthew McCabe, a witness who testified on Thursday, is expected to continue his testimony on Friday morning. He told jurors about the night before O’Keefe died and his testimony is expected to resume on the events of Jan. 29, 2022.

Also on Thursday, witness Colin Albert, the Canton homeowner’s nephew, sat through intense questioning from Read’s attorney, Alan Jackson, about a photograph of his cut-up knuckles weeks after O’Keefe’s death.

This story will be updated throughout Friday once testimony resumes at 9 a.m.
