Isaiah Bolden injury that suspended preseason game was a concussion (source)

As Isaiah Bolden rejoins his New England Patriots teammates, we now know the nature of the injury that led to Saturday night’s game vs. the Green Bay Packers being suspended.

A source told MassLive’s Mark Daniels that Bolden suffered a concussion Saturday night at Lambeau Field. Daniels also reports that Bolden is back with his teammates and heading back to Foxborough with the team. The Patriots have yet to officially disclose the nature of Bolden’s injury.

Bolden was injured in the fourth quarter of Saturday night’s game against the Packers after appearing to collide with teammate Calvin Munson. The rookie appeared to be motionless on the field as teammates called over medical personnel. Bolden was eventually loaded onto a stretcher and taken to nearby Aurora Bay Medical Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

After an onfield meeting that involved Patriots coach Bill Belichick, Packers coach Matt LaFleur, Patriots captain Matthew Slater and game officials, the decision was made to suspend the game with over 10 minutes remaining.

The Patriots reported at the time that the defensive back had feeling in his extremities. The rookie was held overnight for monitoring. The team later gave an update Sunday morning that Bolden had been released from the hospital and will head back with the team to Foxborough.

The Patriots were originally set to travel straight to Tennessee for joint practices with the Titans. However, in the wake of Bolden’s injury, the Patriots have canceled those joint practices and will instead practice in Foxborough this week.
