Injured Patriots player makes first public comments since hit that ended game

There were a lot of thoughts and prayers going out for New England Patriots rookie Isaiah Bolden Saturday after the defensive back’s scary injury.

Bolden, who was released from the hospital Sunday morning, says he appreciates them all, but is more excited to be back with his Patriots teammates.

“Appreciate the prayers more excited to be back with the guys,” Bolden wrote.

Bolden was injured on an apparent hit to the head in the fourth quarter of Saturday night’s preseason game between the Patriots and Packers. The rookie defensive back appeared to be motionless on the ground as medical personnel scrambled to help him.

The two teams agreed that the best course of action was the end the preseason matchup early, with NFL officials announcing that the game was officially suspended.

According to the Patriots, Bolden was transported to a nearby hospital and kept overnight. The team said that he was released from the hospital Sunday morning and is now heading back to Foxborough with his teammates.
