Hurricane Katrina was a Category 5 hurricane that struck the Gulf Coast of the United States in August 2005. It caused widespread destruction, particularly in New Orleans, where levee breaches led to catastrophic flooding.
The storm resulted in over 1,800 fatalities and approximately $160 billion in damage.
