A new Boston pizza restaurant offering its own take on New York-style pies and pepperoni-infused negronis has arrived.
FiDO Pizza officially opened in Allston on Tuesday night, Aug. 19. The restaurant is the fifth concept from Traveler Street Hospitality, the team behind South End staples Bar Mezzana, Shore Leave, No Relation and Black Lamb.
FiDO’s name pays homage to the ownership team’s love for dogs and Allston’s “Rock City” roots. It’s also an abbreviation for fine dough, which is produced from a 72-hour infusion process involving a combination of King Arthur All-Purpose Flour, Sir Galahad Artisan Flour and Organic Heritage Red Fife Wheat Flour.
“Who doesn’t love pizza?” chef Colin Lynch asked in a press release. “Everyone has their ideal style of pizza in their mind and it’s been awesome to bring mine to fruition. I am so excited to share my version with the Allston neighborhood and Boston as a whole.”
FiDO’s pizza oven will bake off 16-inch pies for guests, from the classic tomato or cheese pizza to more sophisticated options such as The DOC (sopressata, garlic honey, chili and whipped ricotta) and Braised Greens (anchovy, chili flake, mozzarella).
Those in the mood for something other than pizza can choose from a selection of snacks, salads, pastas and larger entrees. Standout menu items include chopped antipasto salad with salami and crispy chickpeas, baked rigatoni with vodka sauce and spicy sausage with polenta, pepper and agrodolce.
Meanwhile, FiDO’s beverage program features beer, wine and cocktails. Most notable is the Pepperoni Pizza-Infused Negroni, which is available on draft. The Nitro Espresso Martini is also available on draft while The Basil Gimlet is meant to be a pizza’s ideal companion.
FiDO boasts a 26-person outdoor patio, 15-person bar and dining room featuring emerald-toned terrazzo tabletops and goldenrod banquettes.
FiDO is located at the Allston Labworks Campus at 250 Western Ave. The restaurant is currently open from 11 a.m. to midnight Tuesday through Saturday, but plans to operate seven days a week after Labor Day. Reservations can be made online.
