Hazmat incident at Cape Cod home prompts ongoing police, fire response

A hazardous materials incident at a Yarmouth home prompted a large police and fire response on Friday, Yarmouth police said.

The Yarmouth Police Department stated that the incident took place at a South Yarmouth residence.

Police have closed Ocean Avenue between Northeast Drive and Seaside Village Road, the department added.

“At this time, the situation remains active,” police said. “We are asking the public to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.”

The department will provide more updates as new information becomes available.

No other information about the hazmat incident was immediately available.
