Gusty winds up to 50 mph expected Friday in parts of Mass.

A day before a storm that could bring widespread snowfall arrives, parts of Massachusetts will see whipping wind gusts up to 50 mph.

Conditions will remain largely dry on Friday, though National Weather Service forecasters say there is a chance for some showers in Western Massachusetts.

Central Massachusetts and parts of Western Massachusetts east of The Berkshires are under a Wind Advisory until 4 p.m. Friday, warning of winds of 10 to 20 mph, with gusts between 45 mph and 50 mph.

“Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects,“ forecasters wrote. ”Tree limbs could be blown down and some power outages may result.“

The wind is expected to die down as an area of high-pressure builds on Saturday, before a winter storm arrives. That storm could dump up to 10 inches of snow.
