Agawam Garden Club Meeting

AGAWAM – The next meeting of the Agawam Garden Club will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 10. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. and is held at the Agawam Public Library, 750 Cooper St. in the Feeding Hills section. After a brief business meeting Christine Brown will present the program, “Cooking with Herbs.” Learn how easy it is to grow most herbs whether they are annuals or perennials. Chris is a retired nutritionist who loves to garden and cook. After growing a herb garden, she decided to learn more about using these herbs in her recipes. Interested members are asked to purchase their banquet tickets at this time. All meetings are open to the public and not restricted to Agawam residents.

Ware grange gardening workshop

WARE – Ware Grange’s next gardening workshop, “Fall Tasks for Your Garden,” will be held on Friday, Oct. 13, 7 p.m. at the Grange Hall at 297 Belchertown Road in Ware. The presenter will be Roberta McQuaid, author of the weekly “In the Garden “column for Turley Publications. Roberts will share many pointers for gardening tasks gardeners accomplish each fall, including how to best overwinter the tender plants and bulbs inside, how and when to plant garlic and spring flowering bulbs outside, the best storage methods for winter squash, onions, and apples, and more. Hampden Garden Club program

HAMPDEN – On Thursday, Oct. 19, 7 p.m. at Academy Hall, The Hampden Garden Club will have a guest speaker, member Ginny Blake who will present a program on “The Tulip: Not Just Another Pretty face.” Learn the history of this spring bulb as well as view the many stunning varieties in bloom at the Keukenhof in Holland at the height of the tulip season. The hall is located at 625 Main St. For more information, call Lil at 413-566-1137. Guest fee is $5.
