FIBA announces start time for USA vs. Brazil quarterfinal Tuesday

Jayson Tatum and Team USA will have a very favorable draw in the knockout round of the Olympic men’s basketball tournament in Paris beginning on Tuesday. The Americans earned the No. 1 seed in the tournament after going 3-0 in pool play capped by a win over Puerto Rico on Saturday.

US will be one of eight teams in the quarterfinals and they will face Brazil (1-2) on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. A win will earn them a spot in the semifinals on Thursday against either Serbia or Australia. Here is a look at the full quarterfinal schedule on Tuesday:

U.S. vs. Brazil 3:30 p.m.

Serbia vs. Australia 8:30 a.m.

Germany vs. Greece 5 a.m.

France vs. Canada 12 p.m.

Celtics guard Jrue Holiday is expected to return for the knockout round after sitting out Saturday’s win vs Puerto Rico. Holiday will get a full five days of rest before USA’s quarterfinal matchup in the knockout round on Tuesday. Jayson Tatum got his second straight start in the 104-83 win, finishing with a double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds).

The Americans are looking to win their fifth straight gold medal this week as play moves to Paris for the eight remaining countries.
