Family creates Meghan Moore Foundation for athletes after Cape woman’s death

The family of Meghan Moore, a Cape Cod native killed in a murder-suicide in Florida earlier this month, is creating a foundation in her honor to support female student-athletes.

On a GoFundMe page, Moore’s family describes the 25-year-old, originally from Centerville, as “a shining example of determination and loyalty.” Moore was a standout athlete at Barnstable High School, her obituary said. And she later played on the women’s ice hockey team at New England College, from where she graduated in 2021.

Moore and her roommate Sidney Capolino, both former New England College hockey players, were killed on March 16 in their Miami condo, police say, by 40-year-old Luis Napoles. Napoles, a Miami resident, later killed himself.
