Driver seriously injured after car crashes into Mass. home

A driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries after a car crashed into a house in Dracut Friday night, according to police.

Police and firefighters responded to the crash near 52 Tyngsborough Road around 10:30 p.m., Dracut police said in a press release. At the scene, they discovered that a car had left the roadway and hit a guardrail, parked car and a home before coming to rest against the house.

The driver — a 56-year-old Dracut man — was found unconscious inside the car, and firefighters had to free him from it, police said. First responders provided first aid at the scene before taking him to Lowell General Hospital with serious injuries.

A building inspector responded to the scene to evaluate the home and determined that it did not sustain serious structural damage, police said. The home’s residents were able to remain in their home.

Dracut police are still investigating the crash. No further information, including the cause of the crash, has been released.
