Driver dies after car crashes into tree outside Stow home

A driver died early Saturday morning in a rollover crash after the car they were driving struck a tree in Stow, according to police.

On Aug. 23, police and firefighters were called to 70 Crescent St. shortly before 4 a.m. for a report of a single-car crash, Stow police said in a press release. At the scene, they found a Lexus ES fully engulfed in flames.

Upon arrival, first responders found a Lexus ES fully engulfed in flames, police said. The driver was declared dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation into the crash indicated that the car hit a tree outside a home on Crescent Street before rolling over and catching fire, police said. No other cars were involved.

The crash remains under investigation by the Stow Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office. No further information — including the name of the driver — has been released.
