Colts rookie QB ruled out vs. Titans after suffering another injury

It has not been an easy start to Anthony Richardson’s career and that trend continued Sunday.

The Colts quarterback left the game against the Tennessee Titans in the second quarter with an apparent shoulder injury. Richardson was injured while trying to run the ball on a 1st-and-10. He remained down in obvious pain and immediately pointed to his shoulder.

Richardson was tended to by the Colts trainers before walking off the field and into the blue medical tent under his own power before he went to the locker room for further evaluation. The Colts announced Richardson would not return.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Richardson’s X-rays were negative and he’ll undergo further testing to determine whether there is any structural damage.

Gardner Minshew replaced Richardson at quarterback.

The 2023 first-round pick missed Week 3 after suffering a concussion in Week 2 against the Houston Texans.

Richardson was having a strong game prior to the shoulder injury. The quarterback completed 9 of his 12 passes for 98 yards. The Colts held a 10-6 lead over the Titans when he exited the game.

This marks the third time in four games the Richardson has missed some sort of time due to an injury. He also left his NFL debut early after taking a big hit in the fourth quarter of Week 1.
