City Council unanimously approves first bond reading for new police station

WESTFIELD — On July 7, the City Council unanimously passed the first reading of a $45 million bond to construct a new police station on Union Street on the site of the former Blessed Sacrament Parish, which is in the process of being demolished.

Councilor James Adams, a member of the Legislative & Ordinance Committee and the liaison to the Westfield Police Department, presented the bond to the City Council with words of praise for City Purchasing Agent Tammy Tefft, who just completed overseeing the work on the Westfield River Elementary School. He said this will be her third building project, including the senior center.
