A restaurant chain that serves soup dumplings is coming to Shrewsbury.
Nan Xiang Express will be “coming soon” to the town’s White City shopping center off of Route 9 just over the bridge from Worcester.
Signage featuring soup dumplings in a basket and Nan Xiang’s Express logo — a red outline of a dumpling — is displayed on the outside of a building next to Creative Nails & Spa.
Chinese soup dumplings are steamed dumplings filled with a broth-based soup.
The new restaurant will be just across the parking lot from the Shaw’s supermarket in the shopping plaza.
A permit on the side of the window indicates the building’s owner plans to convert it into a new restaurant.
Nan Xiang Express did not immediately respond to a request for comment Monday.
Nan Xiang Express is an offshoot of Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao, a Chinese soup dumpling restaurant that opened in 2006 in New York City. Nan Xiang Express has two locations in Massachusetts — in Boston’s Chinatown and the South End, according to its website.
Nan Xiang Express also offers dim sum, appetizers such as scallion pancakes and noodle and rice dishes.
