BWC: Ga. officers pursue stolen semi-truck as it crosses median, drives wrong way

ATLANTA — A man is facing multiple charges after leading Cobb County police on a high-speed pursuit in a stolen bobtail truck, Atlanta News First reported.

The incident began on June 24 when officers responded to several 911 calls reporting a semi-truck driving recklessly and nearly causing collisions.

Police released dashcam video of the pursuit on July 29. According to investigators, officers first located the truck on Dallas Highway, where the driver briefly pulled over before fleeing.

The footage shows the semi-truck weaving through traffic in an attempt to evade officers. At one point, the truck crossed over a raised median to speed down the wrong side of the road. As oncoming traffic approached, the truck narrowly missed causing a head-on collision before swerving back onto the right side of the road.

As the driver continued to flee, he began to cross back and forth over the raised median. The pursuit came to an end when he lost control and slammed into a wooden fence.

Police said the truck was confirmed to be stolen, and the driver was taken into custody at the scene. He is facing multiple charges related to the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
