BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Grammy-winning American country music singer Brad Paisley gave a shout-out to a Connecticut police department that helped make his recent performance in the Nutmeg State possible.
Paisley invited members of the Bridgeport Police Department on stage during his performance at the Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater in Bridgeport on July 18 , a video posted by the department on its Facebook page showed. Paisley shook the hands of the officers on stage before singing his song “Mr. Policeman.” The audience cheered in response.
“Thank you very much for being here, guys,” Paisley said.
The Bridgeport Police Department was assigned to an escort detail to bring Paisley from the Waterbury-Oxford Airport to the Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater, another Facebook post by the department reads. Another group of Bridgeport officers acted as traffic detail, tasked with “helping to manage crowds, direct traffic, and keep concertgoers safe throughout the night,” the Facebook post added.
The Bridgeport Police Department thanked Paisley in a Facebook message.
“Being invited on stage was something our officers will never forget, and it meant a lot to everyone in the department. We also want to give a big shout-out to our community,” the Bridgeport Police Department’s Facebook post read. “That is a memory that will last a lifetime.”
After the show, Paisley’s father, Douglas, asked to take a photo with the officers on escort duty, the Facebook post added. Officers gave Bridgeport Police patches and other souvenirs to him.
“It was a genuine exchange that reminded us how meaningful these connections can be,” the Facebook message read.
