A man with a large knife was shot multiple times by Boston Police officers after he broke into a restaurant in Beacon Hill early Wednesday morning, according to the department.
Just before 6 a.m. Wednesday, officers went to 97 Mount Vernon St., the address for the restaurant 1928 Beacon Hill, for a report of a breaking and entering in progress, Superintendent Paul McLaughlin told reporters at the scene. There, police found a man in a rear alley armed with a large knife.
An officer deployed his taser, hitting the man. The taser did not subdue the man, and at that point, responding officers shot the man multiple times, McLaughlin said.
The man was treated at the scene and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The officers involved were also taken to hospitals for evaluation, a standard procedure, according to McLaughlin.
The man wasn’t wearing any clothes at the time of the incident, McLaughlin said, adding it was too early to determine a motive.
An investigation into the incident is in its early stages, McLaughlin said.
“We are asking anyone in this area that may have information relative to what happened, any video, anything that they might be able to add to this investigation, to contact the homicide unit at 617-343-4470,” he said.
