Previous Rankings: Dec. 19, Preseason
MassLive released its latest girls basketball power rankings for the Bay State Conference on Thursday.
After spending the break by playing in holiday tournaments, teams returned to conference play this week.
- Natick (8-0, No. 1)
- Needham (7-0, No. 2)
- Walpole (4-2, No. 3)
- Braintree (4-2, No. 6)
- Brookline (4-3, No. 8)
- Newton North (3-5, No. 4)
- Milton (4-4, No. 5)
- Wellesley (2-5, No. 7)
- Framingham (0-7, No. 9)
- Weymouth (0-6, No. 10)
Natick and Needham remain undefeated and at the top of the conference. Only one of the Redhawks’ wins was by single digits. The rest have been decided by 14 or more points. Meanwhile Needham followed up a 45-43 win over Pembroke by doubling-up Newton North 64-32 on Tuesday.
Walpole’s two losses have come by a combined four points. The Timberwolves celebrated this week as senior Bella Bingham scored her 1,000th career point during a 65-38 win over Wellesley.
Brookline was the biggest riser from December. After starting the year 0-3, the Warriors are currently on a four-game winning streak. A pair of wins over Newton North and Weymouth bookend a pair of holiday tournament wins over break.
Friday will determine the final winless team in the conference. Weymouth hosts Framingham in a battle for which school will pick up its first win.
