Amherst girls indoor track & field place first at MSTCA State Relays

The Amherst girls indoor track and field team placed first at the MSTCA State Relays in Division IV at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston on Sunday. The Amherst boys placed sixth as a team.

The Hurricane girls were led by top two finishes in the long jump.

Juliana Albo placed first with a leap of 5.29 meters, a new personal best, while Claire Fortin took second with a leap of 5.04 meters.

The Hurricanes also had a fifth place finish in the SMR 1600-Meter Relay in a time of 4:28.09 and a sixth place finish in the DMR 4000-Meter Relay in 13:56.02.

The girls placed first as a team with a score of 37.5. Holliston and Newburyport tied for second with 30.49 points.

The top finish for the Amherst boys came in the 4×800-meter relay with a second place finish in 8:23.28.
