A man from Massachusetts won $1 million playing Powerball and is about to tee off into a new life.
Thomas Daige, of Leicester, won $1 million during the Powerball drawing held Dec. 14, 2024. The drawing was for a $47.9 million jackpot.
The first five numbers on Daige’s Quic Pic ticket matched those selected in the drawing, and he claimed his $1 million prize — before taxes — on Jan. 24.
Daige told the lottery he plans on putting the money toward his retirement and a new set of golf clubs.
The Leceister man bought his winning ticket at a package store in his hometown located at 869 Main St., called Leicester Package Store. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
