Tower Pizza, a new pizza restaurant in Tower Square in Springfield, is merging the flavors of Puerto Rico and Italy.
While customers can get a whole slew of traditional pizzas, one menu item is a fusion of two countries.
The Mofongo Madness, for $16.99, is a calzone stuffed with plantains, pork, mojo sauce, garlic butter and mozzarella, based on the Puerto Rican dish mofongo.
It is then brushed with more garlic butter, ready for the oven and once again brushed with butter once its cooked.

You can even get the calzone with a side of a mayonnaise and ketchup blended sauce, coming in spicy or mild.
Tower Pizza will have its official grand opening on Feb. 3. It is located in Tower Square on Main Street in Springfield in the food court.
