The All-American Rejects have been playing everywhere as of late. They’ve been performing in people’s backyards, random bowling alleys and most recently, on the field during a game at Fenway Park.
The surprise appearance from the popular 2000s pop-punk band came during the Savannah Bananas’ two-game stint at the historic home of the Boston Red Sox over the weekend.
After the end of the fifth inning, cameras showed the band’s lead singer, Tyson Ritter, among fans in the stands. Ritter then began singing “Gives You Hell” as he made his way to the field, where the rest of the band was playing.
You can watch the performance here.
That performance came during a stoppage in play. However, the All-American Rejects would return for a second performance during a live at-bat. That came in the bottom of the eighth inning when Bananas slugger Alex Ziegler came to the plate. The band performed “Swing, Swing” live on the field just outside the home dugout during Ziegler’s at-bat.
A safety hazard? Maybe. A cool performance? Absolutely.
Such shenanigans are par for the course for the Bananas, who are a popular exhibition baseball team that travels the country playing under unique rules, known as “Bananaball.” Think of them as the Harlem Globetrotters of baseball.
The Bananas played two games at Fenway against the Firefighters, winning both games. Replays of both games at Fenway are available on the Bananas YouTube page.
As for the All-American Rejects, the popular pop-punk band has been performing at unique venues all over the country this year, including house parties. Formed in 1999, the band grew to popularity in the 2000s thanks to hits like “Move Along,” “Dirty Little Secret” and the two songs performed at Fenway.
The band went on a 10-year hiatus before going back to touring in 2023. Earlier this year, The All-American Rejects began to release new singles, with a full album set to be released in 2026.
