As treasure hunters get ready to hunt, haggle, and explore this week at the Brimfield Flea Market, storm clouds are looming over their plans.
The flea market is opening Tuesday for the second time in 2025. But shoppers will be faced with thunderstorms and heat.
There is a chance of rain all day Tuesday. However, it could hold off until 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Tuesday is expected to be the hottest day with highs near 88 degrees.
Wednesday and Thursday also show chances of rain. There is a chance of a thunderstorm around 3 p.m. Wednesday.
As of Monday morning, the least likely days for rain at the Brimfield Flea Market are Friday, Saturday and Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. However, the forecast could change by then.
Most of the week will have a high around 80 degrees.
Some longtime shoppers believe the July show is too hot. But MassLive found the September show often has similar temperatures and there have been times where the September had days that were hotter than days during the July showings.
The event is held rain or shine. And it’s not uncommon for rain to try to dampen a day of shopping.
Sometimes the rain can cause flooding but usually doesn’t last long.
Shoppers are advised to wear rain boots to help with the mud left behind.
