As boys hockey teams head into the hearts of their schedules, MassLive wants to highlight some of the top games to watch each week.
Whether it’s a potential milestone captured, a bout between two longtime rivals, or two streaking teams facing off, our staff will share the top contests to get out to and when and where they’re taking place.
For this week, Jan. 12-18, here are three Bay State Conference boys hockey games to watch.
Milton (6-1) at Needham (4-2-2), Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Babson College
Both the Wildcats and the Rockets are on fire over the last two weeks. Each team has won four of its last five contests and will be ready to go for this Herget Division matchup.
Last season, the two sides split the season series with the road team winning in each game.
Weymouth (4-3) at Walpole (5-3), Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Rodman Arena
Like Milton and Needham, Walpole and Weymouth are two streaking Herget Division boys hockey teams. They’re a combined 7-3 in their last 10 games.
Weymouth however is coming off a loss and will need to respond right away if it wants to hang in for Division title race. One thing on the side of the Wildcats is that they have not lost at the Timberwolves since 2024.
For Walpole, this is a chance for new head coach Joe Verderber to show what his squad is made of against one of the top teams in the conference the last two years.
Arlington Catholic (7-2) at Framingham (5-4), Saturday at 7:50 p.m. at Loring Ice Arena
This is the lone nonconference matchup of the week. The Flyers have had a bit of an up and down season but are winners of three in a row after downing Weymouth on Saturday.
The Cougars though are a different kind of test, and have six straight wins to their name.
