22-year-old motorcycle driver dies after losing control going around a curve

A 22-year-old motorcycle driver from Fitchburg died Thursday after losing control of his bike when going around a curve in Ashby.

The driver was going southbound around a curve on Greenville Road near Ashbee Artworks when he lost control around 5:50 p.m. The 2005 Suzuki motorcycle crossed the center line, went into the northbound lane and then skidded off the road, the Ashby Police Department said.

The driver was found against a tree with the bike about 20 feet away.

He was taken to Leominster Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Officials did not release the 22-year-old’s man name.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ashby Police Department with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section (CARS) Unit.
