$100,000 lottery ticket sold at this Shell gas station in Massachusetts

A $100,000 prize scored from a lottery ticket bought at a Shell gas station’s convenience store in Western Massachusetts was claimed Friday.

The winning “MILLIONS” scratch ticket, which cost $30 to buy, was purchased at a Shell station in Ludlow, according to the Massachusetts State Lottery’s website.

The odds of winning $100,000, the third-highest prize that can be won in “MILLIONS,” are one in 72,000. The odds of winning $1 million, the second-highest prize that can be won in the lottery game, are one in 2.268 million, and the odds of winning $15 million, the top prize in the game, are one in 6.048 million.

The winner of the $100,000 prize was not the only lucky lottery player in Massachusetts this week. On Thursday, a $10 million prize won from a ticket bought at a package store was claimed. On Wednesday, the final $5 million prize in one of the State Lottery’s crossword-style scratch ticket games was claimed. On Tuesday, two players won $100,000 apiece during the daily “Mass Cash” drawing, and on Monday, someone who won a prize that amounts to $10,000 a month for 10 years came forward to claim their winning $5 scratch ticket.

The State Lottery posts a list online every day that includes all the winning lottery tickets worth at least $600 sold or claimed in Massachusetts. Overall, there were 618 tickets worth at least $600 sold or claimed Friday, including 20 in Springfield, 24 in Worcester and 47 in Boston.

The two largest lottery prizes scored in Massachusetts so far in 2023 were the $33 million and $31 million Mega Millions jackpots won a week apart from each other in January.

The $31 million ticket was bought at a Gibbs gas station in Woburn and was won during the Tuesday, Jan. 3 drawing. The winner of the jackpot claimed their prize on March 8 through the S & L Trust.

The $33 million ticket was bought at a Stop & Shop in Belchertown and was won during the Tuesday, Jan. 24 drawing. The winner of the jackpot claimed their prize on March 1 through the Skylark Group Trust.
