1 person critically injured in stabbing in Fairhaven late Sunday

Officers went to a home on Cherry Street around 10:15 p.m. Sunday for a report of a stabbing following an altercation, said Fairhaven Police Chief Daniel M. Dorgan in a statement.

Three people sustained knife wounds, one of whom was critically injured, police said.

At the scene, police found a gun believed to have been carried by the suspect. A search for the suspect is underway, police said.

The incident is not believed to be random — the victims and suspect knew each other, police said.

Police believe the stabbing was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.
