Would you try a pickle cupcake? You can at The Big E

One sweet treat at The Big E is combining sweet and sour packed into a cupcake.

This year, The Big E is introducing more than 65 new food items to excite and please your palate, the fair said in a release. Of the new food items on the fairgrounds, the Dill Pickle Cupcake from LuAnn’s Bakery in Ellington, Connecticut, definitely stands out.

The cupcake combines chopped up pickles and dill in their vanilla batter. Once it’s baked, it is then topped with a dill filled cream cheese frosting and garnished with a dill pickle chip, owner Josh Virkler said.

If you are brave enough to try the pickle cupcake on your own, head to The Front Porch area of the fair to find it. The Front Porch was introduced as a new district to the fair in 2022 right inside gate 5.

Adjacent to the Better Living Center, Director of Marketing Noreen Tassinari described it last year as an area where people can relax and shop. There is also food offerings and entertainment that are present.

But that’s just the start to the sweets LuAnn’s Bakery is bringing to the fair. Fairgoers can also indulge in cupcakes like the Chocolate Pumpkin Marble, Quintuple Chocolate, Caramel Apple and Funfetti.

The business will also have Chocolate Buttercream and Vanilla Buttercream Frosting Shots served with a vanilla sugar cookie for dipping.
