A 61-year-old woman shot and killed in Roxbury earlier this month was remembered in her obituary for her “energy, humor and caring nature.”
Marie Molea, of Boston, was shot in the area of 1855 Washington St. in Roxbury around 1:07 p.m. on Oct. 13. She was taken to Boston Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
Molea grew up in Lynn, attending and later graduating from Lynn Classical High School before receiving a nursing degree from North Shore Community College. She worked as a school nurse at Callahan Elementary School in Lynn, and as a registered nurse for the Visiting Nurses Association, New England Home for the Deaf, and at Union Hospital.
“She cherished music, laughter, and time spent with her family, creating many joyful memories in her earlier years,” the obituary reads, noting that Molea also loved running and ran the Boston Marathon twice.
A memorial service for Molea was held on Saturday at Solimine Funeral Home in Lynn. Her family urged donations in her name be made to Rosie’s Place, a women’s shelter, or to The Louis D. Brown Peace Institute, a non-profit that works with families and communities impacted by murder.
