Woman killed, another seriously injured after being hit by vehicle in Boston

A 77-year-old woman was killed and a 39-year-old woman was seriously injured after they were hit by a motor vehicle in Boston’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood Sunday night, according to police.

Officers responded to a report of two pedestrians struck by a vehicle near 101 South Huntington Ave. at around 9:37 p.m. Sunday, police said.

Arriving officers found two women who had been hit. The 77-year-old woman was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The younger woman was taken to a hospital, where she remains in critical condition, police said.

Police believe the driver involved fled the scene. It was later found unoccupied near Huntington Avenue and secured, police said.

Detectives from the Homicide Unit and members of the Fatal Collision Investigation Team are investigating the collision.

No arrests have been made.
