Woman hospitalized in fiery crash involving tanker truck in Boston

A woman was rushed to the hospital with burn injuries following a fiery crash on Route 1A in East Boston early Wednesday morning, according to the Boston Police Department.

Police got a call about a crash involving a tanker truck and car at Boardman Street and McClellan Highway shortly before 3 a.m. on Oct. 18, police said.

One of the vehicles caught fire, and Boston firefighters were called to the scene as well.

A video posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, showed crews dousing the truck in water and captured the damage sustained to the other vehicle. The tanker truck was reportedly carrying 8,000 gallons of fuel.

Boston police did not know the woman’s condition as of 8:15 Wednesday morning. No other injuries were reported. The crash remains under investigation.
