WMass Tournament Girls Basketball Roundup: Pittsfield, Granby and PVCA advance to title games

The Western Massachusetts girls’ basketball tournament continued on Friday, Feb. 13. Please send missing results to sports@masslive.com.

Class A

No. 1 Pittsfield (64), No. 5 Pope Francis (30)

Pittsfield secured a 64-30 win over Pope Francis Friday in the Western Mass. girls basketball semifinal round.

Leading the way for the Generals was Caprese Conyers, who recorded 20 points. Her total was made up of six two-point baskets, two 3-pointers and two free-throws.

Also in double-digits for Pittsfield was Madison Stetz (12 points), Harolyn Castillo (10 points) and Kyana Summers (10 points).

For the Cardinals, Brooke Beadling led with 11 points. She made five two-point baskets and on free-throw during the matchup.

Pittsfield will next face South Hadley in the final round with the time and place yet to be announced.

Class D

WMass Semifinals

No. 1 Granby (61) vs No. 5 Pioneer Valley Regional (23)

In a dominant 61-23 showing, top-seeded Granby was led by Kalli White’s 34 points.

White, a junior, made 15 two-point baskets and four free-throws to go 4-of-7 from the charity stripe.

Brenna Moreno was the other Rams player who recorded double-digit points, scoring 13. Her points total was comprised of two 2-point baskets and three 3-pointers.

For Pioneer, Kyler McClelland led with 11 points. She made three 3-pointers and two free-throws.

Granby will face Pioneer Valley Christian Academy in the final round. The time and place is yet to be announced.

No. 3 Pioneer Valley Christian Academy (34), No. 2 Hoosac Valley (32)

In a close matchup, Pioneer Valley Christian Academy snuck past Hoosac Valley, 34-32, in the Western Mass. girls basketball semifinal round Friday.

For the winning side, Sadie Keegan made a team leading nine points. Her total for the night came from four two-point baskets and one free-throw.

Raegan Shea led the Hurricanes and the matchup with 15 points. Her total was made up of five two-point baskets, one three-pointer and two free-throws.

The Eagles will continue its tournament run in the final round against Granby.
