As the second week of the 2026 Winter season comes to a close, here is how the WMass girls basketball Top 20 breaks down.
Central maintains its top seed after splitting its opening weekend at the ‘She Got Game Classic’ in Washington, D.C. Giavanna Mars got rolling for the Golden Eagles in D.C., leading the team with over 20 points scored in both games.
Minnechaug has opened the season with clear intent, defeating Westfield and Northampton by over 40 points each. Zahara Wilson has shined in her first two games for the Falcons, highlighted by her 29-point performance against the Blue Devils on Monday.
Pittsfield opens its season on Friday, Dec. 19 against South Hadley. The Tigers earned their first win on Dec. 12 with a comfortable 60-36 victory over Belchertown at the Pioneer Valley Tip-Off. Cara Dean and Olivia Athas led the way, combining for 33 of the Tigers’ points on the night.
Longmeadow rounds out the top-five after a dominant performance on Monday, defeating SICS, 64-21. Laura Minardi and Suniyah Mitchell combined for 29 points to lead the Lancers, who outscored the Bulldogs 17-0 in the opening quarter to run away with the result.
Northampton drops slightly after its disappointing loss to the Falcons, but bounced back with a win over Brattleboro Union (VT) on Wednesday. Emme Calkins has led the Blue Devils early on with over 20 points scored in each of their wins.
Frontier bounced back from a season-opening loss to Northampton on Dec. 11 with a pair of wins over SICS and Hoosac Valley on the road. Skyler Steele and Addie Harrington carried the Red Hawks in their win over the Bulldogs at the Pioneer Valley Tip-Off, combining for 43 of the team’s 50 total points.
Drury moves into the top-10 after a pair of strong road performance this past week, defeating Berkshire County-rivals, Lee and Wahconah. The Blue Devils’ victory over the Warriors on Wednesday was a low-scoring affair, but the defensive effort shown to hold down the Warriors earned the visitors a hard-nosed victory.
