With the 2026 Winter season entering its final leg, its now or never for teams to find some momentum heading into the postseason.
Springfield Central put itself to the test over the weekend with three high-level games at showcase events in Springfield and in New York. The Golden Eagles defeated Northwest Catholic (CT) at the Hoophall Classic on Friday.
But the Golden Eagles’ momentum was not enough in Brooklyn, where Central fell to St. Timothy’s (MD) and Paul VI (VA) at the Nike Rose Classic.
Minnechaug continues its roll, with five wins in its last five games. A hard-fought victory over Northampton on Thursday asserted the Falcons supremacy over Blue Devils.
The Falcons followed up with a sterling performance at the Hoophall Invitational, winning both its games on Saturday and Sunday before defeating Hampshire on Tuesday.
Northampton bounced back from its loss to the Falcons with a win over Shephard Hill on Tuesday.
After back-to-back defeats to Central and Northampton, Pittsfield has righted the ship with three consecutive wins. The Generals put on an impressive scoring display in their win over South Hadley on Thursday, with Caprese Conyers and Kyana Summers scoring 24 and 20 points respectively.
Pittsfield kept rolling through the weekend, knocking off Glastonbury (CT) and Scarsdale (NY) at the Hoophall Invitational.
Outside the Valley League, Wahconah also had a successful weekend. The Warriors defeated Classical (RI) and St. Johnsbury Academy (VT) at the Hoophall Invitational.
Pope Francis cracks the top-10 after collecting wins over Southwick and Amherst this past week. The Cardinals have won three in a row, building their first stretch of momentum after starting the season 4-5.
Another team that could be turning the corner is Belchertown. After back-to-back losses to Tantasqua Reg. and Southwick to start the year, the Orioles have won their last three games, with wins over East Longmeadow and Agawam this past week.
