In a matchup between Southwick (10-3) and undefeated East Longmeadow (14-0), the Rams showed up and showed out, taking took down the Spartans in straight sets, 25-19, 25-18, and 29-27.
Phong Tran dished up 40 assists, to go along with eight digs. Offensively, Nicolas Spina and River Thompson were the main recipients of Tran’s sets, notching 23 and 16 kills respectively.
For East Longmeadow, Cole Berthuiame had 20 assists and 2 kills, while Ben Mannheim finished with a team-high 13 kills.
This marks just the first loss of the season for East Longmeadow, who had only dropped three sets in fourteen games. They will look to pick up the pieces at home against Chicopee on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Southwick will try and make it six in a row against Ludlow the same day.
