The Chicopee Comprehensive High School boys’ tennis team is on fire.
A narrow 3-2 victory for the Colts over West Springfield on Wednesday afternoon kept them scalding hot, as they’ve now won six of their first seven matches of the season.
Syed Bukhari (6-1, 6-0) and Brady Paquette (6-1, 6-1) had West Springfield in good position early on, combining to take the first two singles matches convincingly.
However, that was before Sean Prendergast took control back for Chicopee Comp. A pair of clean sets by the junior led the way for the duos of Nicolas Sliwa-Leinel Caraballo (6-4, 6-4) and Richard Bergeron-Geoffry Gleason (6-0, 6-0) to clean house in the doubles competition.
After improving to 6-1, the Colts await a matchup against Hampden Charter School of Science High School at home on Monday at 4 p.m.
West Springfield fell to an even 4-4 with its third straight loss. The Terriers will look to correct course when they host Pope Francis on the same scheduled date and time.
