Westfield boys hockey tallied the first three goals of Saturday’s contest and never looked back. The Bombers subdued Minnechaug’s comeback attempt and hung on to secure the 5-4 victory.
Joseph Maffia led the way for Westfield, scoring a goal and adding two assists. Cody Bard also netted a goal and added a helper. Tyler Goodreau, Brady Corliss, and Brody Hollister each chipped in with a goal apiece.
Treygan Lemanski was the key set-up man in this contest, as he finished with three assists.
The Falcons were led by Cameron Faneuff, who finished the night with two goals. Jason Abeid and Anthony Garib each tallied a goal as well. Abeid added an assist to finish the night with two points.
Westfield (1-1) looks to carry the momentum of the first win of the season into Tuesday, Dec. 23 when the Bombers travel to East Longmeadow to face the Spartans with a 2 p.m. puck drop.
Minnechaug (4-1) drops their first contest of the campaign and will look to rebound on Dec. 27 when the Falcons host Agawam with at 1:30 p.m.
