Smith Academy boys basketball had a dominant start to the season, edging out Granby in a 44-41 final on Friday night.
The Falcons moved to 1-0 to open the year.
Cajun Benson had an exceptional performance for Smith Academy with 14 points and four steals. Rowan Jeffress added to these efforts with 12 points of his own, leading Smith Academy through to outscore Granby 18-8 in the third quarter on the way to its first win of the season.
Despite the loss for Granby, Zavien Fernandez contributed an incredible 16-point game, accumulated by three two-pointers, two from far range, and four successful free throws.
Next, Smith Academy will host Mahar on Monday, Dec. 15th at 7 p.m., while Granby searches for its first win on the road versus Monson on the same date and time.
