Mitchell Carey’s 24-point night was the difference Friday evening, as Amherst won its second-straight contest, taking down Taconic, 68-61.
The Hurricanes found themselves down by ten points at the half, but were able to rally back in the second half to take the win.
Carey drained ten field goals, including a three pointer, as well as collecting three from the free throw line to total his 24 points.
Samuel Woodruff followed closely behind Carey, nabbing seven field goals to go along with five free throws to total 19 points.
Gael Buford also chipped in with ten points of his own.
Taconic’s Quincy King did all he could to help the Thunder take the victory, as he grabbed ten field goals, three of which came from beyond the arc, and seven free throws, totaling a 30-point night in the losing effort.
Evan Roccabruna and Charlie Driscoll also each chipped in with 12 points apiece for Taconic.
Amherst (4-2) looks to make it three straight wins on Monday as it travels to Springfield International Charter School with tipoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
As for Taconic, the Thunder (2-4) will look to get back in the win column on Monday as they host Monument Mountain with a 7 p.m. start.
