A hint of holiday magic might bring a dusting of snow to parts of Massachusetts on Christmas.

Minor snow accumulations of 1-3 inches is expected to start falling Tuesday morning, a few days before Christmas. It likely isn’t going to hit the eastern part of the state until midday and could continue overnight.

The most snow accumulation is likely to be in Pittsfield, where residents could get four inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service. Springfield and Boston might only see 1-2 inches, while Worcester could get three inches. Those on Cape Cod might not get anything Tuesday.

Then most of the state will remain dry for Christmas day. However, a low pressure system lingering offshore could bright some light snow showers to the eastern coast, Cape and Islands.

While it won’t meet the official definition of a white Christmas — an inch of snow by Christmas morning — it could still make for a stunning holiday backdrop.
