NBCUniversal is broadcasting last year’s blockbuster, “Wicked,” on television just two days before the sequel, “Wicked: For Good,” hits theaters on Friday, November 21.
The movie will premiere at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. Those without cable can watch the show for free through FuboTV or DIRECTV, each of which offers a free trial to new users. Sling is another option for streaming the show, and promotional offers are available.
“Wicked” is the untold story of the witches of the Land of Oz before Dorothy Gale arrives from Kansas. Elphaba is a young woman who is misunderstood because of her unusual green skin and has yet to discover her true power. Glinda is a popular young woman, gilded by privilege, and has yet to discover her true heart. The two forge an unlikely friendship and their extraordinary adventures lead them to fulfill their destinies as Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.
Directed by Jon M. Chu, “Wicked” and “Wicked: For Good” star Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda.
The sequel, “Wicked for Good,” premieres in theaters on Friday.
According to the description, the sequel seems to show Elphaba and Glinda “estranged and living with the consequences of their choices. When a girl from Kansas comes crashing into their lives, they will need to come together one final time, and truly see each other, if they are to change themselves, and all of Oz, for good.”
Alongside Grande and Erivo, the cast includes Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, Marissa Bode, Michelle Yeoh and Jeff Goldblum.
