Which Boston Red Sox prospects acquired in trades are ranked on latest list?

Nine players who Boston has acquired via trade appeared on Fangraphs’ updated Top 45 Red Sox prospect list that it released Wednesday.

Fangraphs ranked Roman Anthony No. 1, Kristian Campbell No. 2 and Marcelo Mayer No. 3. The site has 2024 draft picks — lefties Payton Tolle and Brandon Clarke — ranked sixth and seventh respectively.

The nine ranked trade additions:

Richard Fitts (No. 5): The Red Sox acquired the 25-year-old right-handed pitcher with Greg Weissert and Nicholas Judice from the Yankees for Alex Verdugo on Dec. 5, 2023. Fitts took a no decision Wednesday in a 5-2 loss to the Angels. He went 4 innings and allowed two runs and four hits (two homers). He has a 4.68 ERA in six starts for Boston this year.

Carlos Navárez (No. 10): Boston acquired the catcher from the Yankees for pitching prospect Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz and $250,000 in international bonus pool space on Dec. 11. He appeared in just six major league games before this season. He’s batting .268 with a .349 on-base percentage, .431 slugging percentage, .780 OPS, six homers and 16 doubles in 61 games (235 plate appearances). He’s also been one of the best defensive catchers in the big leagues.

James Tibbs III (No. 14): The Red Sox acquired Tibbs with Jordan Hicks, Kyle Harrison and Jose Bello (No. 26) from the Giants for Rafael Devers on June 15. The 22-year-old outfielder was assigned to Double-A Portland where he has gone 8-for-26 (.308) with a .387 on-base percentage, one double, one triple, three RBIs, three runs, three walks and six strikeouts in seven games.

While Fangraphs has him No. 14 in the system, MLB Pipeline slotted him as Boston’s No. 6 prospect right after the trade.

David Sandlin (No. 20): Boston acquired the 24-year-old hard-throwing right-hander from the Royals for reliever John Schreiber on Feb. 17, 2024. At No. 20, Fangraphs has him ranked lower than other prospect sites. Baseball America ranks him 11th in the system and MLB Pipeline ranks ninth. He has a 2.48 ERA (29 innings, eight runs) over his past five outings (four starts) with three scoreless innings mixed in. He has allowed just 21 hits during that stretch. He has a 3.90 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and .230 batting average against in 12 outings (11 starts) overall for Portland this season.

John Holobetz (No. 26): The Red Sox acquired the 22-year-old righty along with Yophery Rodriguez and a player to be named later from the Brewers for Quinn Priester on April 7. He’s 3-2 with a 3.14 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and .268 batting average against in eight outings (seven starts) for High-A Greenville.

Yophery Rodriguez (No. 31): Boston acquired the 19-year-old outfielder along with Holobetz (No. 26) from the Brewers in the Priester trade on April 7. Jose Bello (No. 36): The 20-year-old righty was acquired with Tibbs (No. 14), Hicks and Harrison from the Giants for Devers on June 15. He made his Red Sox organizational debut Monday, hurling 2 scoreless innings for the Florida Complex League Red Sox. He allowed one hit and two walks while striking out three.

Yhoiker Fajardo (No. 37): The 18-year-old was acquired from the White Sox for reliever Cam Booser on Dec. 21, 2024.
