It’s not Saturday, but the college football action from Week 1 continues on Sunday, Aug. 31 with the No. 13 South Carolina Gamecocks battling the Virginia Tech Hokies at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

The Gamecocks had a strong end to their 2024 despite a loss in the Citrus Bowl to Illinois. The squad went 9-4 and went 4-4 in games against ranked opponents. Sophomore quarterback LaNorris Sellers is looking to build off a freshman season in which he had 25 combined passing and rushing touchdowns and more than 3,100 yards through the air and ground.
Virginia Tech also lost its bowl game to a Big Ten team, losing the Duke’s Mayo Bowl to Minnesota to conclude a 6-7 campaign. Senior quarterback Kyron Drones enters his third season as the Hokies’ starter and is hoping this season goes better than 2024, when he was only able to play in nine games, and saw his total number reduce, although he did improve his completion percentage and passing yards per game.
